In the first reading, we are told about the prophet Jeremiah’s struggle with his opponents, those who want to bring him down: “Perhaps he can be enticed, and we can prevail against him, and take our revenge on him”.
Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi, Boże Ciało. Divine Providence has brought us to this day, the day of return to publicly-celebrated Masses, in the Diocese of Pembroke.
My brothers and sisters, this time is one of significant feasts in the life of the Church. A week ago we celebrated Pentecost, the birthday of the Church. Next Sunday we will observe Corpus Christi. Today too is a special observance, as we’ll reflect on the deepest mystery of our Christian faith. Today we’ll consider the Trinity – One God in three Persons.
In the Acts of the Apostles, we hear of the disciples being gathered together all in one place, on the day of Pentecost.
On this Ascension Sunday, the Liturgy of the Word brings us the accounts of Jesus’ being lifted up, body and soul, into heaven.
For many priests, spring is the time of ordination, especially in the Blessed Virgin’s month of May, as was Father Hattie’s ordination at Digby, Nova Scotia in the diocese of Yarmouth. I also noticed your parish priest, Father Pawel, was ordained in January in Mississauga in the midst of a major winter storm; not sure what that indicates.
