Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. Our thoughts accompany Jesus Christ, who was raised up into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God.
In this, the Gospel for the 6th Sunday of Easter, we are told to abide in Christ. Last Sunday, Jesus said, “As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me” (John 15:5, RSV).
Today we celebrate the 5th Sunday of Easter.
The first reading speaks of the early Church living in “the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.”
The readings for this 3rd Sunday of Easter bring us great hope of life after death, also for our bodies. The readings also tell us that if we call ourselves believers, then we need to obey God’s commandments.
This is the Second Sunday of Easter, also called Divine Mercy Sunday. I’d like to spend time with you on the Gospel, and on the theme of the Feast of Divine Mercy.
Today is Easter Sunday, the Sunday of the Resurrection. We have prepared for this day with forty days of Lent, and we have experienced the liturgies of the Sacred Triduum.
