Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
the Easter Triduum is the high point of the Christian year. The Lord's Passion and Death is followed by His glorious Resurrection. So too on our earthly pilgrimage, our “little and great” passions and deaths are followed by risings, if only we humbly entrust our lives to Christ, the Risen Lord, who says to us “Peace be with you.” As Bishop William McGrattan, president of the CCCB, writes in his Easter message: “In our current world, we must know in faith that the Lord Jesus stands in our midst and says, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid' (John 14:27). This must be our heartfelt petition this Easter for many of our brothers and sisters who are experiencing the ongoing tragedy of war and violence.” May Christ's peace reign in our world. We ask that Our Lady, Mother of the Risen Lord, accompany us in these days of Easter.
